Kale Whalen, MD

Kale Whalen, MD, is an emergency medicine physician and a first-year fellow in Medical Toxicology. His interest in toxicology started as a medical student at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he had a stint working with the Poison Control Center in Portland, Maine. As a resident, his attention turned towards medication safety as he developed a clinical practice guideline for ketamine use in the emergency department for patients with agitated delirium and refractory pain. During fellowship, he hopes to advance his focus in medication safety and education as well as study emerging drugs of abuse. He enjoys teaching, and will work closely with interested medical students and residents to advance their knowledge of toxicology and emergency medicine.
